Producer
As a trained Multimedia Journalist with a Gold Standard NCTJ Diploma, Roshan is a speech enthusiast and loves storytelling and creating engaging content. She has 4 years’ experience producing radio across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Asian Network and is an award-winning radio producer, with over 7 years’ experience of producing podcasts. She’s the co-producer of her BBC Podcast If You Don’t Know, previously produced the BBC 1Xtra Talks podcast and offers consultancy and editing services to independent podcasts too. Roshan has also worked in TV across Channel 4 and ITV productions.
Roshan Roberts was a key producer on the ‘1Xtra Talks’ show and podcast for BBC Radio 1Xtra – during her tenure on the show she was the heart and soul of the production, selecting the topics and treatments that resonated with our young, hard-to-reach audience.
Roshan conceived some really important pieces of content for 1Xtra Talks – from our Immigration Special on the experiences of undocumented young people in the UK, to an interview with social activist Munroe Bergdorf, to a discussion on the use of the term BAME with a live studio audience. She has proved she can push boundaries within the BBC editorial guidelines and work under pressure in a variety of live environments.
Roshan brings with her an unrivalled network of contributors from high profile musicians, comedians and influencers to medical experts, charities and real people with extraordinary stories to tell.

Podcaster
Roshan is 1/2 of BBC 1Xtra’s Podcast, ‘If You Don’t Know’. The podcast is filled with lots of chat, facts and laughter, diving into black current affairs. This is the first ever black podcast to be produced by BBC News and previous topics include: distrust in the police, being Black and Muslim, missing people, living on universal credit, vaccine hesitation and sickle cell.
‘Roshan is a tenacious and passionate presenter. Her interpersonal nature draws you into whatever she is discussing and she is highly skilled both in front of and behind the mic. She has a no holds bar approach when it comes to discussion and doesn’t shy away from hard hitting and difficult conversations.’

Speaker
Roshan is passionate about debunking myths around mental health and is committed to tackling stigmas within the black community, whilst confident talking openly about her own experiences too. Key areas: Black Feminism, mental health, sexual well-being, gender/race, creative industries and podcasting.
The event delivered from Roshan was the most successful event we have held – reached the largest audience we have had. She was honest and rich with passion that it could only leave you wanting more. The way she spoke to us was on a level that everyone would understand – so many times I have been on event calls where the speaker doesn’t get on the same level as their audience.
